Starting Farewell Tour of Singapore

Since we will be relocating from Singapore in July, we started our farewell tour of this city-state a few weeks ago. Singapore may be small but it is packed with many interesting and educational places for parents and kids alike! We visited the Science Center, Santosa Beach, Botanical Garden and River Valley (for some authentic Japanese food!). The Zoo, Bird Park and Japanese/Chinese Cultural Gardens still remain on our list.

Here are some pictures. Each of the four kids is different in his or her own way. We have Desmond who is 7 and is well-known among his friends as the "Nice” one. Leilani, who is almost 5 and fully fluent in English and Japanese, is known as the "Bossy" one. Kaili, who just turned 2, knows people adore and give in to her, and so we call her the "Manipulative" one. Last but not least, Noelani, who is about 10 months, can hold her own and then some against her older brother and sisters, and so she is quite the "Feisty” one.

As for us parents, we said goodbye to our good friend and tennis coach, Ryo. Ryo played tennis for a major tennis powerhouse in Japan and is in Singapore to study. He updated us on many modern tennis strokes including the "Helicopter" forehand, alas Nadal. Ryo is training a promising Japanese player who is currently playing tournaments in South America. Ryo promised to visit us in Laos to play some tennis and a few rounds of golf.
